The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has informed Congress of the approval of a request from the Taiwanese government for upgraded electronic warfare (EW) systems on board four KEELUNG-class destroyers.

The sale, which will include AN/SLQ-32(V)3 upgrade hardware, software, support equipment and parts, publications, training, engineering and technical assistance, will be conducted under the Foreign Military Sales systems and carries an estimated value of $80 million.

The prime contractor will be Raytheon Missile Systems of Tucson, AZ. The Taiwanese Navy’s KEELUNG-class destroyers were formerly KIDD-class vessels of the US Navy.
