In June, Rheinmetall booked orders from two foreign governments, one of which was a new customer nation, for air defence hardware and related services totalling €220 million. Deliveries will be completed by 2021.

The new customer nation has ordered two SKYGUARD 3 systems – a third generation solution for critical infrastructure protection against very short-range threats, consisting of a fire control unit and two Oerlikon GDF009 35mm cannon. The customer is expected to place additional orders in the medium term.

The other – longstanding – customer has added SKYGUARD 1 to its inventory under an order that also includes ammunition, simulators and related test equipment and training. Rheinmetall expects this customer, too, to be placing further orders over the next five years.
