The GRIPEN India Partnership Summit 2017, being hosted by Saab and Adani in New Delhi from 31 October to 01 November 2017, brought together GRIPEN’s global partners to India to connect with top level Indian industry and create lasting partnerships.
The GRIPEN India Partnership Summit was the perfect occasion to meet up and connect with key players in the global and Indian aerospace and defence industry and form technological and industrial partnerships. Together, the focus was on creating an industrial ecosystem to develop and produce GRIPEN in India.
The summit brought together international partners and suppliers for GRIPEN and selected Indian suppliers that Saab and Adani believe can add value to the offering for India. This is done in order to start shaping an eco-system for GRIPEN in India in preparation for the single engine fighter selection process.
Among the international partners there were several European as well as American companies such as GE (US), Honeywell (US), Leonardo (UK), UTC (US), Harris (US/UK), Heroux Devtek (Canada/UK) and Cobham (UK), all of which represent a big portion of the systems for GRIPEN. Over 100 Indian companies were invited representing a wide range of competencies within aerospace.
"The aim of the whole event is to create the arena that will bring the existing international partners for GRIPEN to the table for discussions with the potential Indian suppliers to shape the eco-system and prepare for an outstanding make in India solution for GRIPEN in India," Mats Palmberg, VP Industrial Partnerships & Head of GRIPEN for India, explained.
“The GRIPEN partnership summit is a big step in realising Adani’s vision of transforming India into a defence manufacturing hub. The event provides a platform to the global and Indian players to collaborate and define an indigenisation roadmap for critical structures, systems and technologies foundational to Make in India initiative,” Ashish Rajvanshi, Head, Defence and Aerospace for Adani Group, continued.
