Rheinmetall has just released a new member of its VARIO-RAY family, the VARIO-RAY LowProfile (VR-LP), which is a compact laser aiming and illuminating device that was designed and developed by Rheinmetall Soldier Electronics (RSE) in Stockach, Germany.

The VR-LP builds upon Rheinmetall's extensive laser aiming product knowledge and enables the device to withstand the demands of today’s compact assault rifles and hostile combat environments, while providing the operator with a system that is straightforward to use, says the company.

American Rheinmetall Systems fully supports the manufacture and sale of this product in the US market. This new laser aiming device is waterproof and lightweight, in a durable aluminum case that extends less than one inch above the mounting rail to assure holographic sights are not obstructed. It features four lasers: a red visible aiming laser, a near infrared (IR) laser, as well as two near IR illuminators. The system provides great illumination beam quality increasing the operator’s situational awareness in all environments.

"Competitively priced, the new member of Rheinmetall’s VARIO-RAY family is the solution to the modern day warfighter’s aiming and illuminating needs," Rheinmetall sources say.
