At the Paris Air Show next week Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH (ESG) will be showing off its mission-proven solutions, ranging from unmanned platforms to enhanced vision systems. Among the systems visitors will be able to examine will be:
• The new Airborne Operator Console: an enhancement of the existing workstations developed by ESG for performing tasks such as observing large crowds, tracking suspects and search and rescue missions for missing persons or refugees by using HD camera systems, digital maps and a variety of communication equipment. The console provides an ergonomically optimised alignment of the two displays and a new high-performance mission computer, incorporating mission software entirely developed by ESG and easily adapted to customer-specific requirements;
• Enhanced Vision System: a next-generation forward-looking infrared (FLIR) camera system for helicopter mission-related tasks. The system enhances situational awareness and reduces pilot workload in night-time and degraded visual environments (DVE). Its dual-band mid- and long-wave IR detector increases performance in DVE and provides a colour-coded image for improved pilot information. The system has a very high dynamic, fast moving gimbal, together with very low video latency;
• GUARDION: the mission-proven modular drone detection and defence system, developed by ESG with Rohde & Schwarz and Diehl Defence, is based on the tried-and-tested system used to protect various major political events such as the G20 summit in Hamburg in 2017, US President Obama's state visit in June 2016 and the G7 summit in Elmau in 2015. ESG is responsible for the selection, integration and networking of powerful sensors, the optimised situation overview using its own TARANIS command and control system and the connection to existing IT networks and infrastructure. GUARDION provides scalable solutions for secure detection and defence against drones in stationary, mobile or deployable configurations, adapted to the individual requirements of customers and situations.
• VECTOR and SCORPION tactical eVTOL-UAS: PAS 2019 will be the venue for the international product launch of both VECTOR and SCORPION. With these systems, ESG and Quantum-Systems GmbH present unique solutions in the field of electrically operated, unmanned eVTOL systems for tactical deployment scenarios. VECTOR combines the performance advantages of a fixed-wing aircraft with the vertical take-off capability of a helicopter. In just a few simple steps, you can switch to the SCORPION configuration, enjoying the benefits of a sophisticated tri-copter setup thanks to the 2-in-1 system. This allows fast and highly flexible response to the challenges of changing deployment scenarios. Due to their design, VECTOR and SCORPION are ideal for tactical reconnaissance and surveillance missions even in inclement weather and environmental conditions.
