At the 6th India-Russia Military Industrial Conference, held at Bangalore in the context of AERO India on 3 February, Bharat Electronics (BEL) and Rosoboronexport agreed an offset contract of an ‘invest-in-kind’ nature, to establish manufacturing facilities for a wide range of aviation hoses at BEL subsidiary BEL Optronic Devices Limited, Pune.

Fully consistent with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, the contract will result in BEL obtaining cost-effective, state-of-the-art technology, based on modern production and test equipment and processes, for a range of high-quality components applicable to many of the aircraft currently flying in India and the region. The demand for hoses – consumable by nature – is further fueled by flight operations of military services such as the Indian Air Force.
