Textron Aviation has delivered two additional GRAND CARAVAN EX multi-mission aircraft to Paraguay, the company announced on 24 June. The turboprop aircraft are anticipated to enter Fuerza Aérea Paraguaya (FAP – Paraguayan Air Force) service during the second half of 2021, joining three GRAND CARAVANs already in operation.

The GRAND CARAVAN EX serves an enduring mission by providing humanitarian, transport and medical evacuation operations in Paraguay,” stated Bob Gibbs, VP, Special Mission Sales. “The aircraft is engineered for challenging missions, high payloads and short, rough runways, while delivering single-engine economy and simplicity.  It is a perfect match for this mission throughout South America.”

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) managed the acquisition process, in an agreement financed by ITAIPU Binacional to increase the current response capacity of the services provided by the FAP to deliver humanitarian efforts in emergency situations in Paraguay. UNOPS is a resource for services and solutions across peace and security, humanitarian, and development efforts: its mission is to help people build better lives and countries achieve peace and sustainable development.
