Lockheed Martin is to host a multi-domain wargame at its Center for Innovation (known as ‘The Lighthouse’) in Suffolk, VA/USA, the company announced on 11 April. The exercise will show how cross-domain C2 can be enhanced through operational integration of the air, space and cyber domains.

During this three-day tabletop exercise, Lockheed Martin will team with DoD experts to explore ways to improve interoperability between air, space, and cyber operations centres. Using a government furnished scenario, the team will observe and identify ways to integrate stove-piped systems and platforms to improve situational awareness and collaborative planning processes. The results of the exercise will be provided to the US Air Force Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) Enterprise Capability Collaboration Team, led by Brig.-Gen. B. Chance Saltzman, which has been directed to develop a plan to make MDC2 a reality.

In developing the roadmap for the exercise, Lockheed Martin has leveraged its extensive cyber expertise as well as experience supporting programmes that connect numerous domains. These include the intelligent Space (iSpace) system; the US Air Distributed Common Ground System; the Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS); the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) System and its next generation: The Air Tasking Order Management System (ATOMS).

Prevailing in future conflicts requires the ability to understand situations faster than our adversaries,” Dr. Rob Smith, Vice President of C4ISR for Lockheed Martin, observed. “This exercise will look at ways to bring synergistic battlespace effects by merging the planning cycles of all three domains.”
