The Elettronica Group is impressing upon visitors to its exhibit at IDEX in Abu Dhabi this week its renewed brand, and focusing on better prmoting its the industrial entities: Elettronica SpA (electronic warfare – EW); Elettronica GmbH (homeland security and EW); and CT4GATE (cyber warfare).

For almost 70 years the group has provided cutting-edge technologies to customers in over 30 nations: strategic surveillance, self-protection, signals intelligence (SIGINT), electronic attack and operational support for the land, sea and air domains, covering every aspect of electronic defence, cyber EW, security and intelligence applications.

Since the 1980s, Elettronica has treated the Gulf region as a key strategic growth market, establishing its own representative office. In the UAE, the Air Force’s MIRAGE aircraft rely on Elettronica jammers and electronic intelligence (ELINT) systems, most of the Navy’s vessels are equipped with its surveillance technologies and the Army’s EW command employs the group’s ground-based ELINT systems in shelters.

At IDEX 2019 the group isl showcasing a number of systems that address current and future operational needs. Among these is the Anti-Drone Interception Acquisition and Neutralisation (ADRIAN) systems, an advanced counter-UAS solution for critical infrastructure protection and public area security. The Italian armed forces are already procuring ADRIAN, as is an undisclosed nation in the Middle East.

Also being showcased is an advanced EW suite for naval applications, developed from work initially carried out for the Italian Navy’s PPA programme. The core component of the suite is the EW Manager (EWMU), a computer-aided command and control (C2) solution fully dedicated to the EW layer and functionally integrating EW subsystems. The inclusion of the EWMU makes the suite a ‘system of systems’ solution and provides additional optimisation of sensor and countermeasure data based on signal correlation and fusion, threat situation, and mission status. The EWMU functionally integrates the ELT-33 communications electronic support measures (CESM),  ZEUS/VIRGIULIUS radar electronic countermeasures/ESM (RECM/RESM) capabilities and, in future, naval directed infrared countermeasures (DIRCM).

EDGE, the new escort jamming solution for airborne applications, is based on a high level of electronic and mechanical innovation. An autonomous pod configuration, it is designed to increase the survivability and success of attacking airborne forces with unique performance and installation capabilities.‎ EDGE’s functions are designed to create a safe corridor for multiple mission aircraft. Its embedded ELINT features and networking capabilities enhance situational awareness, intelligence collection. and advanced jamming countermeasure against new 3-digit radars.

The group is also offering visitors an opportunity to learn more regarding the training and education possibilities offered by the EW Academy, a modern and advanced centre with dedicated assets, infrastructure, processes, scenario simulations and experts covering every aspect of the evolving EW domain.  Five significant customers have already placed their trust in the Elettronica EW Academy.

Subsidiary company CY4FATE will present cyber intelligence and security solutions with a particular emphasis on D-SINT, a cutting-edge platform able to support the intelligence cycle (planning, analysis, collection, production, dissemination) in achieving its goal: turning gathered data into tactical and strategic knowledge. Based on an open, modular and scalable architecture, D-SINT allows users to collect and analyse considerable volumes of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources – open, deep and dark web, local or existing databases – in real time, producing, by way of output, predefined templates to provide strategic decision makers with editable reports.

An added bonus this year is the presence of the Italian Navy’s FREMM frigate CARLO MARGOTTINI at IDEX, providing an opportunity to see Elettronica’s systems in situ.
