Bittium has received a purchase order, valued at approximately €1.6 million, from the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) for its Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN) tactical communications systems, the company announced on 23 March. Deliveries will be completed in 2020.

The purchase order is part of the FDF’s renewal of its command, control and communications systems, in which the software-defined TAC WIN system is used to form tactical communication networks. It provides combat-survivable, wireless broadband IP connections for troops for whom mobility, communicating on the move and assuring effective communications play key roles.

The TAC WIN waveform is the foundation for a high-performance network, supporting up to 1,000 nodes in a single network and multiple services, such as multi-casting and QoS. (Image: Bittium)
