Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract, valued at $338 million (€276 million) to supply its E-LynX software-defined radio (SDR) solution to the Swiss Armed Forces, the company revealed on 17 December.
To be performed over a six-year period, the contract calls for Elbit Systems to supply an army-wide tactical mobile SDR network solution under the Telecommunications Armed Forces (TK A) digitszation programme, Ersa mob Komm. The award follows a three-year period of intensive competitive test and evaluation and the solution to be provided is based on the E-LynX family of open architecture SDR, enabling fast, reliable and secure communication across the Swiss armed forces. The network solution incorporates advanced waveforms and includes the SMARTmr routing solution, as well as vehicular intercom.
