Nexter announced on 22 May it has won a contract from the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation for 15 CAESAR 8x8 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, with options for a further 6. Danish industry will be fully involved in the contract, in particular with regard to the 10-year sustainment of the CAESAR in Danish service.

Striking a balance between the simplicity of towed artillery and the mobility and survivability of self-propelled systems, CAESAR provides operators with flexible, deployable and affordable full spectrum indirect fire support. Accurately and at the lowest maintenance costs of any mobile artillery system. Over 300 systems have been ordered by five countries and CAESAR has been in constant service with French forces since service entry in 2009, in operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Mali.

We are proud to support such a longstanding ally of the French Army and member of the NATO alliance,” Stephane Mayer, Nexter Group CEO, commented. “This first success for the 8x8 CAESAR configuration confirms the relevance of our vision and strengthens our dedication to meeting the fast-moving and specific needs of our customers.”
