Thales UK has contracted Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to deliver the PROTECTOR RS4 remote weapon station (RWS) for the UK’s Mechanized Infantry Vehicle (MIV) programme.

Valued at 1,030 MNOK (€97 million), the contract calls for the RWS to be integrated onto the BOXER vehicles being built to meet the MIV requirement, in close cooperation with Thales, Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Kongsberg has delivered over 20,000 PROTECTORs to 23 countries in the last 20 years. The MIV contract marks the seventh delivery contract for the British armed forces, including two upgrade programmes.
