Ventura Defense is showing ALAKRAN – the first 81/120mm mortar carrier with automatic aiming capabilities – integrated with a Safran Electronics & Defence GEONYX™ inertial navigation system (INS) at IDEX in Abu Dhabi this week.

ALAKRAN, recognised by the defence community for its high levels of modularity, is now providing operators with hitherto unattainable levels of precision in pointing and navigation, thanks to the GEONYX™ integration. The INS is a compact inertial land orientation and navigation unit that provides navigation and dynamic attitude references in a full GNSS-denied environment, including the demanding requirements of artillery systems. GEONYX™ embeds Hemispherical Resonating Gyro (HRG) technology, a state-of-the-art inertial component that provides enhanced performance and reliability.

ALAKRAN and GEONYX™ are the perfect match. Both systems are designed to work in tough environments, in GNSS-denied conditions and on all types of terrain, including urban and desert areas. They are both made to provide customers with an efficient ‘shoot-and-scoot’ capability, through ALAKRAN’s high speed of deployment and GEONYX™’s fast alignment time to reach full performance.
