Israel Shipyards will unveil its new OPV-45 multipurpose ocean patrol vessel (OPV) at IMDEX Asia in Singapore, 14-16 May. The vessel offers a wide spectrum of operational capability in both OPV and fast patrol craft (FPC) configurations.

Designed for a wide range of naval, para-military and HLS missions, the OPV-45 carry a variety of mission-specific payloads. It provides open sea patrol and surveillance functions as well as a wide variety of off-shore mission capability, including facilities and economic zone protection, counter-terror, anti-smuggling, illegal activities interdiction, intervention forces boarding/landing, and close-range naval combat operations, including anti-piracy missions and enhanced search and rescue (SAR) operations. The OPV-45 can also be equipped for minimising illegal immigration, fishing protection and control and anti-pollution activities.

Featuring advanced weapon stations, electro-optics, radar and communication systems, the OPV-45 has an overall length of 45.7m, a sustained speed of 24+ kts knots and a command bridge enabling 360° observation. For missions requiring high speed interception, it can carry a 7.2m Rigid-Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB), which can quickly and easily be launched or retrieved without a crane while the vessel is on the move. The OPV-45’s work deck is large enough to carry up to two 20ft containers equipped for various missions, which gives operators diverse and flexible options. The vessel accommodates a crew of 16-24, plus space for up to 24 additional people for missions involving special forces or SAR crews etc.
