On the occasion of I/ITSEC 2018, MILITARY TECHNOLOGY publishes its sixth Annual Simulation and Training Bosses (SATB) Series that conveys the thoughts and messages of the world’s defence simulation and training leaders, according to the question: “With the need for multi domain LVC training being paramount, what new innovations does your company provide?”

Saab’s modular and scalable system for live, laser-based training is a complete solution for military training. The system is ready for integration of virtual and constructive simulators and today we offer blended training including virtual mortar, anti-tank weapons, small arms, UAV’s and more.

Our latest innovation in the Live Training domain is our new BT 46 Mk III laser simulator system for vehicles, which provides the most realistic ballistic and precision laser simulation. The BT 46 Mk III improves motivation and anticipation through enhanced impact precision, simulated ammunition time-of-flight and tracer.

Perfect used in both gunnery and combat training, wireless technology will make the installation process much easier, the set-up and control using smartphone or tablet will give the user a superior control over the system, and backwards and forwards compatibility will ensure low life cycle costs and high repeatability!

Another innovation is the new Compact Ballistic Laser (CBL), a lightweight, miniaturised laser with all capabilities from Saab’s renowned, high-fidelity BT 46 two-way simulator system, used by most of the major armies around the world. The CBL is primarily designed for machine guns, sniper rifles, Remote Weapon Stations (RWS), lighter Anti-Tank Weapons (ATWs) and hand-held grenade launchers. The CBL makes tangible training benefits available for a wide range of arms.

Saab’s Ground Combat Indoor Trainer is more realistic and provides multirole scenarios. The new weapon simulators e.g. CARL-GUSTAF M4 is ideal for advanced team training. The system is deployable with functions such as instant and accurate feedback.

To get the best overview of everything, MONCh brings together key developments from the show.
