More and more Navies seek to acquire ships to support their missions, ranging from Mine Countermeasures (MCM) to hydrography.
STX France identified this fast growing market and developed DeviceSeas, a multipurpose mothership that takes special emphasis on "operability and safety." The shipbuilder describes it as a platform that can be equipped with multipurpose Launch and Recovery Systems capable of "handling a range of vehicle sizes ( from 2m to 12m) and hull shapes (underwater/floating; single hull; catamaran) without compromises on safety of personell or ease of operations."
When deployed in the Mine Warfare configuration, the DeviceSeas concept accepts integration of various equipment, including 'daughter' boats and craft, underwater drones and systems for enhanced data communication management attached to an on-board, integrated operations centre, with the latter handling field activities while partially processing information ashore.
There is a lot of high-tech equipment that can be carried for other mission scenarios like hydrography, Special Operations, counter-smuggling, and disaster relief. Not to forget operations in the underwater domain, providing support to submarines and their crews. DeviceSeas represents a technological breakthrough in this specific field.
