Mexico’s new Patrullera Oceanica de Largo Alcance (POLA), or Ocean Patrol Vessel, the first of which was launched in Santa Cruz, Mexico, at the end of last year, is full of Thales technology.

The company has supplied and integrated a variety of defence systems onboard the vessels, and included in the contract the transfer of technology to Mexico for combat management system (CMS) development. The Mexican Navy is a new customer for Thales’ avowed intention of becoming a leading supplier of key digital technologies and capabilities – including big data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and network connectivity.
