China enjoyed its first national pavilion at ISDEF this year – and made the most of it, with about 20 companies exhibiting a range of high quality, low-cost products and solutions ranging from mortar ammunition components and photoelectric devices to textiles and body armour.
• YF Protector is a designer and manufacturer of anti-riot personnel protection equipment (PPE). It is rumoured to be ready to launch a new line of PPE this autumn. When asked about its experience at ISDEF this year, Sales Supervisor Anny Zhou remarked that the exhibition allowed the company to reach a varied audience and have fruitful discussions without the added noise or interruptions of larger exhibitions.
• Dongrun provides ballistic protection for police, homeland security and military professionals in China and international markets. Sales Manager Bella Yu reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing “professional technology support and customised service for customers.” In effect, the company takes an almost European approach that creates bespoke PPE solutions for customers by using a range of ballistic materials, such as aramid yarns and ceramics. From Soft UD and aramid UD sheets to Hard UD sheets, it can provide up to level 5 (GA 141-2010) protection as well as the same level 5 and NIJO101.6 protection with plate armour (ceramic composite and PE plate). Ballistic helmets are claimed to have GA293-2012 and NIJO101.06 standard protection for a 1-1.5 kg weight trade-off.
• Ningbo Meijia Tool Company, according to Assistant GM Katherine Wang, designs and produces a wide range of ‘safety protective boxes’ that include water- and dust-proof clip locking boxes for small spare components, measuring 145x105x55 mm, up to large, soft foam-lined wheeled ‘trolley boxes’ for computer equipment or support materiel. It is important to bear in mind that, while these cases are rugged, they are not bullet-proof. The STORM series comes in a range of sizes, damp- and dust-proof while providing ample protection against reasonable levels of shock. Rifle, pistol, and electronic equipment versions of this line are available to armies and special operations forces and are now in service with Chinese military units at home and security forces protecting Chinese operations overseas.
• Greencity/Lucheng (Guangzhou) Bags Corp, Ltd, is a textile company frequently encountered on the international exhibition circuit. What sets it apart is its military-off-the-shelf equipment available for individual soldiers looking to supplement their military-issue load-carrying equipment, in addition to its ability to produce and resupply on a programme level. The most popular 8001 bag features reinforced welts and stitching – as well as heavy-duty canvas that has extra durability – with straps and compartments that do not increase the weight burden.
