SAFE is Saab Security and Safety Management's flexible and configurable platform that manages work of varying end-users, including airports, health care organisations, public authorities (e.g for traffic control and emergency response), as well as law enforcement organisations. Saab describes SAFE as a unified control room solution for any environment. The solution presented by Saab Deutschland in Cologne is designed as a single, modern software application that in the case of police officers and related staff enhances their efficiency through the use of multi-channel public contact, intelligence resource management and officer dispatch. The solution enables police officers to gain access and update incident details, as well as capture and share information that is facilitated via the SAFE app. According to a Saab Deutschland representative in Cologne, the system is an extremely configurable, COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) platform that will allow police officers and staff to "work more efficiently." With this third-generation safety and security management system, "Saab wants to address public safety first," the source says and continues, "The benefit for the end-user is flexibility and configurability." The modular design allows for integration of various communication methodologies, including video, personal telephony and mobile communication.
SAFE was procured in 2018 by the Nottinghamshire Police in the Untited Kingdom (UK). When the new system goes live in early 2020, according to Saab Deutschland's representative in Cologne, it will replace several of the authority's legacy control room systems with a single, more modern software application. According to Saab, it also won two other contracts in the UK, with the company confirming in Cologne that both the Cheshire Police and the Cambria Police representing two "current contracts."
Saab also says that it is working with T-Systems, which "adds some components, integrations and configurations" to Saab's SAFE platform.
