Leonardo has further consolidated its position in the strategic space sector by increasing its stake in Avio by 3.75%, the company announced on 15 June.

Resulting in a shareholding of 29.63%, the transactions for 988,475 shares, conducted in the open market, were concluded on 29 May for a total cash outlay of approx. €14 million. The transaction is a further consolidation of Leonardo’s role as an industrial partner in Avio and of Leonardo’s positioning in the relevant, strategic and growing space business, primarily in the launcher segment, thanks to the significant Italian contribution to European collaboration programmes.

As a result of the share transactions in late May, Leonardo now owns almost 30% of rocket manufacturer Avio. (Image via Avio)
