TYR Tactical recently unveiled its new HURON Collapsible Direct Action Assaulters Pack (HRN-DAAP-DS), which attaches to the company's TYR Tactical PICO-DS Plate Carrier (TYR-PICO-DS) via two 9in separating zippers.
This attachment system allows for a quick disconnect and reconnect of the pack to the carrier. The DAAP-DS may also be utilised as a Stand-Alone Pack with its two low profile shoulder straps. The shoulder straps can be removed or remain on the pack when attached to the carrier, this allows the user to remove the pack from their carrier and then quickly don the pack again via the shoulder carry straps.
The DAAP-DS can carry hydration, a 117-G radio and/or other equipment for various mission sets. The DAAP-DS features a zippered expandable main compartment that has two antenna/cable routing ports, an internal hydration pocket with top hydration port, two external general purpose pockets and a removable beavertail for storing a helmet or transitional garments.
The TYR-PICO-DS is a lightweight and configurable system, acting as a scalable foundation that the operator can configure based on mission requirements. It is engineered utilisingTYR Tactical's revolutionary Patented PV material, which offers significant weight reduction with increased resistance to abrasion. "Patented PV has been tested to have 7-10 times higher abrasion resistance than standard mil spec nylon," according to the company. "Patented PV also enhances the ballistic attributes of armor within the vest. 4-way stretch Tweave is used internally for comfort."
It weighs 4.15lbs (Medium Carrier) with T52/SP soft armour and features PALS webbing for MOLLE attachment (as well as additional a removable MOLLE front flap with MOLLE/PALS webbing to attach mission specific pouches) and a removable Quick Attach Surface Mount (QASM) buckle system for integrating chest racks and other accessories. The circumference of the Three Row Slotted Base Cummerbund incorporates poly mesh, which quickens dry time in both arid and humid climates. It also allows excess heat to vent, further decreasing dry time.
